Kot je Jacobi omenil, je tle ogromen discount zaradi masovne proizvodnje. Tuki se cifre sučejo okoli 30 milijonov čipov (za začetek), tko da se produkcijski stroški zelo zmanjšajo. Se pa računa, da bosta Sony in MS, ki bosta šla na full force karto, spušila več kot 100 zelencev na proizvedeno konzolo. Zakaj pa misliš, da so 1st party špili vedno dražji? Bing, filanje luknje...

AMD, ARM, Nvidia, IBM... zelo zavzeto sodelujejo z vsemi tremi velikimi na trgu (s tem da Nintendo v prenosnih konzolah uprablja ARM procesorje), tako da so čipi sestavljeni in razviti NAMENSKO in se jih zato ne da primerjat s karticami za PC. Tako je lahko skupek silicija, ki MS stane 35 € enako učinkovit ali še bolj od desetkrat dražje kartice za PC...

itak pa nekako ob štartu nove generacije ne gre pričakovati nekih prelomnih naslovov. Molža serij, pa neki za potešitev grafičnih kurb (da dolžine, kjer potem ob naviti ceni za uro igranja dobesedno plačaš 10 €, ne govorim), morda kak skriti biser in to je to...

bo pa fajn gledat, če se DFjevo poročanje izkaže za točno in bosta imela tako X720 kot PS4 do pičice enak osrednji procesor.

CVG sources: Sony to abandon DualShock design for PS4 A senior games studio source working on an upcoming Sony game says the new system's controller has undergone numerous iterations, few of which resemble the DualShock build that has become synonymous with PlayStation. Experiments within Sony's R&D department are thought to have been extensive. Versions of the new PS4 pad include biometric sensors on the grips and an LCD touch screen, the development source claimed. A second source, working in a separate part of the industry but still connected to Sony, said PlayStation engineers are "trying to emulate the same user interface philosophies as the PS Vita". This is likely a reference to the touch-screen capabilities of the PlayStation handheld, and a suggestion that Sony will tightly integrate its portable and home systems.The new console - codenamed Orbis - will be revealed in a matter of weeks, not months. Sony has declined to comment.

Sony to drop DualShock for the next PlayStation Sony will drop the DualShock controller for the next PlayStation, according to a new report. Sources told CVG Sony has tested new controllers with biometric sensors on the grips and an LCD touch-screen. This information tallies with what Eurogamer has heard from our own sources. We understand that as of six months ago Sony was testing a controller that had an LCD touch-screen on the front and biometrics functionality on the back. These designs, we were told, have changed almost every month, but are for the controller for the next PlayStation. Biometrics technology captures data from the player's body, such as temperature and heart rate. Half-Life developer Valve has been experimenting with the tech, trying to discover new game experiences that would benefit from it.

večino pridobi MS itak zarad xbox live in tega nazaj. Drgač pa na začetku ni nikoli 30miljonov saj ni mogoče proizvedet toliko konzol tako hitro. V roku pol leta okrog 5 miljonov. Čeprav dvomim da se jih bo tolko v pol leta sploh prodalo. To da je bolj učinkovit od 10x dražje kartice si pa potegnu iz riti. To ne drži niti na xbox 360 in ps3 in ne bo niti na next gen konzolah. Res pa je da bojo ob koncu naslednje genracije(upajmo da max 5 let) igre izkoristile dost več kot pa na začetku. Mal tweakanja pri anti analysingu in lohk 30FPS dobiš kar hitro. Prvo leto itak ne bo kaj novega. Gears of war 4 nov halo in isti cod. To bo to. Čez okrog 3 leta bojo pa nehali delat multiplatform igre za 360 in ps3 in takrat bo bolj vidna razlika. Ko se začne pa sigurno ne kupim.

Drgač pa itak dokler ni modov in tega na konzolah sploh nevem če bom kupu naslednjo generacijo saj mi to zatiranje kreativnosti gre počas že na živce.

Zato ker se pritožuješ nad zatiranjem kreativnosti, hkrati pa jamraš da ni "modov in tega na konzolah". Plačaj igro in podpiraj kreativnost! :cheerful:

In ne mi s tem, da modi omogočajo še marsikaj drugega razen igranja piratskih iger. Prvotni namen modov je igranje piratov, šele sekundarnega pomena so vse druge funkcije.

Če sem te narobe razumel in si mislil z zatiranjem kreativnosti kaj drugega, potem pozabi mojo "ironijo". :D

Aja, pa če Sony ne bo prilagodil svojega kontrolerja za večje roke, potem naj se lepo j...! :kratos:

As we promised during the weekend in the next weeks we will unveil Durango and Orbis. All the technical info you want to know about the next generation machines from Sony and Microsoft.

The first one is Durango. In this article we present the system overview with the general components and some technical details about them.

How are durango components connected?

Let’s check what’s inside the box:

CPU:

- x64 Architecture

- 8 CPU cores running at 1.6 gigahertz (GHz)

- each CPU thread has its own 32 KB L1 instruction cache and 32 KB L1 data cache

- each module of four CPU cores has a 2 MB L2 cache resulting in a total of 4 MB of L2 cache

- each core has one fully independent hardware thread with no shared execution resources

- each hardware thread can issue two instructions per clock

GPU:

- custom D3D11.1 class 800-MHz graphics processor

- 12 shader cores providing a total of 768 threads

- each thread can perform one scalar multiplication and addition operation (MADD) per clock cycle

- at peak performance, the GPU can effectively issue 1.2 trillion floating-point operations per second

Direkt kot so Kinezi leakli mesec dni nazaj. Večji, počasnejšji pomnilnik (8GB, 2-3 GB rezerve za sistem) + hiter ESRAm (32 mb) kot pri konkurentu. Tko da kar se raw power tiče, je tuki Orbis v znatni prednosti (1.2 TFlop vs 1.84 Tflop)

In ne mi s tem, da modi omogočajo še marsikaj drugega razen igranja piratskih iger. Prvotni namen modov je igranje piratov, šele sekundarnega pomena so vse druge funkcije.

nene pod mode mislim to kar dela skyrim na PC npr. Imam org. Skyrim za PC btw. In z zatiranjem tud mislim da ne pridejo gor kakšne dobre indie igre ampak šele potem ko so slavne in še takrat v slabši obliki kot npr Minecraft ki ima zakon mode. Tud kakšn DayZ je epic mod ki sm ga kupu in igral dost časa. Ravn danes sm prišu še not v SpyParty beto na katero sm čaku eno leto in bom plaču 15€ da lohk igram.

Spet ena smešna izjava iz strani Kaz Hirai-a, šefa Sonya:

Why go first, when your competitors can look at your specifications and come up with something better?

Ker bi MS v teh par mesecih (bolj verjetno tednih) popolnoma spremenili drobovje konzole. :D Sicer pa je tako že vse leakano, tako da si lahko pogledajo konkurenco. :P

Sonyju je MS že za X360 "ukradel" tehnologijo za procesor, ker so isti inžinirji, ki so delali na Cellu in jih je Sony drago plačeval, delali tudi na X360 procesorju in je Sony praktično plačal tudi razvoj X360 CPUja...

The Xbox 360 has turned out to be a formidable competitor to the PlayStation 3, and Sony may have unknowingly contributed to its success. So say David Shippy and Mickie Phipps, who wrote a book about how IBM engineers quietly built the 360's Xenon processor in parallel with the PS3's Cell CPU. The Wall Street Journal has the details:

When the companies entered into their partnership in 2001, Sony, Toshiba and IBM committed themselves to spending $400 million over five years to design the Cell, not counting the millions of dollars it would take to build two production facilities for making the chip itself. IBM provided the bulk of the manpower, with the design team headquartered at its Austin, Texas, offices. Sony and Toshiba sent teams of engineers to Austin to live and work with their partners in an effort to have the Cell ready for the Playstation 3's target launch, Christmas 2005.

But a funny thing happened along the way: A new "partner" entered the picture. In late 2002, Microsoft approached IBM about making the chip for Microsoft's rival game console, the (as yet unnamed) Xbox 360. In 2003, IBM's Adam Bennett showed Microsoft specs for the still-in-development Cell core. Microsoft was interested and contracted with IBM for their own chip, to be built around the core that IBM was still building with Sony.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Sony and Toshiba had agreed that IBM would sell the Cell to other clients. However, they didn't expect IBM to sell "key parts" of the chip to a competing console maker before development was through.

In The Race for a New Game Machine, Shippy and Phipps recount situations like IBM staffers "hiding their work from Sony and Toshiba engineers in the cubicles next to them" and testing the Xenon "a few floors" up from the Cell designers. They say Microsoft ended up with its first Xenon chips six weeks before Sony, too.

Me pa zanima kako bo Sony zagotovil kompatibilnost za nazaj, tukaj vidim edino varianto, da še naprej vgrajujeo Cell procesor.

Me pa zanima kako bo Sony zagotovil kompatibilnost za nazaj, tukaj vidim edino varianto, da še naprej vgrajujeo Cell procesor.

kupli so gaikai... tu je kompatibilnost za nazaj. Drgač pa tile procesorji je prou bogo da porabijo tolk denarja da jih naredijo ker potem pridejo tko hitro že novi in boljši vn.

Sploh zanimiva rešitev, da so 4 CUje dali na stran za dodatno uporabo programerjem. ZDej še da vidimo Durangove specs, vendar se mi zdi, da bi v pravih rokah Orbis lahko kar fino profitiral proti Durangu s strani malo nekovencionalne arhitekturne rešitve.

Me samo zanima kak kontroler bo PS dal ven. Upam samo da ne bo kaj jajčastega, ker ne vem zakaj bi šli spreminjat trenutni kontroler, sploh to z biometričnim senzorjem oz. LCD zaslonom ne vem kako bodo vtaknili vkup. Pa tisti biometrični senzor če bo res ne vem čemu.
