Da, tudi podjetje Razer je predstavilo novosti na letošnjem CESu. Tokrat ne gre za še eno izmed že velike izbire igračarskih pripomočkov... gre za prvo pravo igračarsko tablico, na katero so namignili že lansko leto pod imenom Project Fiona!

Zakaj je ravno Razer Edge prva prava igračarska tablica? No... že dejstvo da je na njem nameščen pravi operacijski sistem Windows 8 (ne RT) pove ogromno. Adijo Android, adijo ARM procesorj, adijo podhranjenost procesorja in grafične. Razer Edge je tablica, ki ob zasnovanju ni sprejela kompromisov. Tukaj ne gre za prenos slike in zvoka na tablico... ne, tablica je tako zmogljiva, da lahko pri 60FPS poganja igro Dishonored! Je zmogljiv PC v obliki tablice, ki je v prvi vrsti mišljen za igranje PC iger!

Potrebno je še dodati, da je tablica zelo debela in težka napram ostalim tablicam, vendar gre tukaj za popolnoma drugačno zasnovo, ki temelji na prenosnih računalnikih in ne mobitelih in ostalih tablicah. Za nekaj podobnega se je v preteklosti že odločil tudi Asus.

 

Zaradi požrešnih komponent, baterija ob igranju iger vzdrži le 1 uro! Na voljo bo dodatna baterija, ki bo podaljšala igranje za dodatno 1 uro.

 

What separates the Razer Edge from other high-end Windows tablets - aside from its various peripheral add-ons - is the inclusion of the Nvidia Kepler graphics core. We've seen a similar combination of Intel ultra-low voltage CPU and GeForce GPU before in the Acer Aspire Ultra M3, where we witnessed some surprisingly strong performance: Battlefield 3 ran well at medium settings, Crysis 2 played nicely at very high while Skyrim was smooth even on the high graphical preset.

 

Na voljo so tudi različni dodatki, ki spremenijo konzolo v igralno konzolo, mobilno igralno konzolo ali prenosnik.

Vse lepo in prav, ampak tukaj je še cena in omejeno tržišče:

Prvi vtisi iz Gizmodota:

Gizmodo had a go on the Edge Pro at CES. First impressions: it's a bit fat but it's shaped and built well and feels light. Of the accessories, the two "mobile console" controllers added "a good bit of heft" and the keyboard (not out until Q3) had keys that felt a bit small.

 

Težava se pojavi tudi pri hitrem razvoju iger. Čez eno leto bo to le še naprava, na kateri bodo delale nove igre na low settings, če sploh bodo.

Eto, pa so prišli reviewi na plano!

Zadeva je IZJEMNO zmogljiva za tablico in brez problema konkurira tudi ultrabukom in ostalim prenosnikom. Brez problema poganja Crysis 3 na nativni resoluciji, ampak seveda ob zmanjšani kvaliteti grafike. Tomb Raider brez problema (!) deluje tudi na višjih nastavitvah.

Težave se pojavijo pri teži, debelini in ogromnih robovih ekrana... tudi sama kvaliteta ekrana bi morala biti za takšno ceno boljša (predvsem večja resolucija). Aja, pa obupna baterija ob igranju iger... samo 1h igranja!

I'll admit it: I didn't think the Edge had any chance. I didn't think you could build a gaming laptop that didn't look like a gaming laptop, but I was wrong. This isn't a power user's device, but it's a fun way to play PC games, and offers some real advantages over any other gaming platform out there. It's also powerful enough to be your one and only PC — but then again, so is the Surface Pro, and unless you want to game that may be a better bet. If a tablet is your endgame, run far away from the Edge, which is too big and too short-lived to merit a mention next to the iPad or the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet. But if you're a gamer, and want something even remotely portable, the Edge isn't only the best option — it's really the only option.

I'd love to tell you to buy the Edge, just in case you decide you want to become a gamer and want the extra power – I know this happened to every one of my ultrabook-toting friends the day SimCity came out. It's just that the math gets ugly, fast. Even if you start with the $999 Edge instead of the $1,299 or $1,499 Edge Pro, you're going to need the $99.99 dock and the $249.99 GamePad — you're not getting the most out of the device without them. You should really get that $69.99 battery, too, at which point you're already at $1,419.96 before you even buy things like keyboards and mice. Fully loaded, the Edge Pro is nearly $2,000 — and for $2,000 you can buy one hell of a gaming PC. Yes, it'll be bigger and heavier, but it'll handle every game and resolution you can think of, and for $2,000 it's hard to expect anything less.

I really like the Razer Edge — I've had a blast using it, using subway rides and free moments to catch up on all the games I missed. But unless you have money to burn, or fit into a very particular niche in the market, there's a good chance this isn't the device for you.
