Igra (tipa platforming, action-adventure) bo izšla na PC, OS X, Linux, PS4, Xbox One in WiiU. Predviden datum izida je oktober 2016.

Sredstva za igro so zbirali preko Kickstarter projekta.

The player controls Yooka, a male chameleon described as "heroic", and Laylee, a female bat described as "a little bit crazy". The game is intended as a resurrection of the "collectathon" 3D platforming game genre of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

During their adventures, Yooka and Laylee will explore worlds contained within large magical books and complete challenges to unlock and collect "Pagies", golden book pages that act as the main currency in the game.

Players can use their Pagies to either unlock new worlds or expand those which have already been unlocked.

The game will feature a local co-op multiplayer mode for two players.

There will also be a 2-4 player adversarial local multiplayer mode with eight different minigames. Additional post-launch downloadable content is planned, which will begin production following the game's release; players who participated in the crowdfunding campaign will receive this content for free.

Team17 and Playtonic Games released a new trailer for Yooka-Laylee at Eurogamer Expo 2016 introducing the game’s various characters like Capital B, Trowzer, Dr. Quack, Rextro, Dr. Puzz, Blasto, Kartos, and more. There’s also a guest appearance from Shovel Knight.

The new gameplay video specifically focuses in on the 4-player top-down, local multiplayer racing from Yooka-Laylee’s in-game retro arcade: Kartos Karting.

 

Igra izide 11. aprila na PS4, Xbox One in PC. Obeta se tudi izid na Switchu, vendar datum izida zanj še ni znan.

Žal so res samo local multiplayer. In tudi co-op kampanjeje je samo local.

Yooka-Laylee developer Playtonic has confirmed that the game will include local co-op in a few different ways.

In the main campaign, another player can take control of the Bee Team, while the first controls Yooka and Laylee. The second player will be able to collect butterflies and quills, as well as disarm traps in the world to help the heroes out.

There are also eight arcade modes, all of which can be played solo or in local co-op for up to four players. The modes all have leaderboard support, and can be found in Rextro’s Arcade in the game.

Kot že omenjeno bo igra izšla tudi na Switchu enkrat letos. Kdaj točno, še ni znano. Je pa za Switch izdan nov napovednik igre.
