Today at E3, we unveiled a new member of the Xbox One family, the Xbox One S. The Xbox One S will offer exceptional games and entertainment starting at $299 USD.

With a fresh new design and “robot white” color, the Xbox One S is 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One, creating the most compact Xbox yet. It also includes a built-in power supply, and in response to fan requests worldwide, can be placed horizontally or vertically with an optional stand.

Xbox One S is not just slimmer and sleeker. We also worked hard to add some exciting new features for video and gameplay. You’ll now be able to watch Blu-ray movies and stream video in stunning 4K Ultra HD video, with content from partners like Netflix and Amazon Video. Xbox One S also offers High Dynamic Range (HDR) support for video and gaming, so you can experience richer, more luminous colors in games like Gears of War 4 and Scalebound. With a higher contrast ratio between lights and darks, HDR brings out the true visual depth of your games and media.

For increased accessibility, we shifted one of the three USB ports and the pairing button to the front of the Xbox One S alongside the newly added IR blaster. Additionally, in order to make the Xbox One S as compact as possible and make all of these updates, we removed the dedicated Kinect port from the back. Ampak so pa tud "lisjaki." V mesecu avgustu bo na voljo inačica z 2TB diskom in ceno 399€. Manj zmogljivi verziji, po velikosti trdega diska 1TB in 500GB, pa naj bi bili na voljo enkrat proti koncu leta kar pa seveda še ni točno. 

Torej najprej lepo čimveč cekinov odtegniti s prodajo 2TB in posledično 100€ dražje verzije nato pa prodajati ostali dve. Zelo podlo! Jaz bom čakal na 500GB pa če bom čakal 1 leto dlje.

Microsoft will launch the Xbox One S on 2nd August, priced £350.

 

Initially, the 40 per cent more compact console will only be available in its 2TB size, although 1TB and 500GB models will follow at an as-yet unknown future date.

1TB and 500GB hard drive models will cost £300 and £250, respectively.

 

The UK, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United States will all get the console then.

The SoC in the Xbox One S is designed in the 16nm Fin FET process, which results in a die that is 240mm2; 33 percent smaller and consumes less power than the 28nm SoC in the original Xbox One.

There are several components required to support the 4K UHD video playback that result in a combination of changes in the new console. First, we added a 4K HEVC decoder to the SoC to render the compressed video streams efficiently in hardware. Next, we updated the video output to HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. The interface revisions are all integrated into the SoC and enable outputting video at the higher bandwidths required for 4K UHD and HDR formats, as well as the copy protection tech required for protected content. And of course, we updated the optical drive to support the BD-UHD disc format.

We also used this opportunity to increase the GPU frequency from 853 MHz to 914 MHz. By making this change, developers creating HDR titles do not have to incur any performance hit. We also decided to make the extra six per cent available to all titles. So some games (ones that utilise dynamic resolution and/or unlocked framerates) may see a very minor performance improvement. Our testing internally has shown this to be pretty minor, and is only measurable on certain games, so we didn't want to make it a "selling point" for the new console.

In addition to DSP firmware updates, the drive in the Xbox One S also includes a new optical pickup to support three-layer UHD Blu-ray format discs. Plus HDMI 2.0 video output with HDCP 2.2 copy protection is also a BD-UHD certification requirement, both of which are included in Xbox One S and weren't implemented on the other Xbox One consoles.

Prenovljena S linija brez optičnega pogona bi naj bila na voljo enkrat v začetku maja, s prednaročili sredi aprila. Uradno ime konzole bi naj bilo: Xbox One S All-Digital Edition

Glavni faktor za to odločitev je cena, ki bi naj bila pod 200$.

Drobovje bi naj ostalo podobno kot na sedanjem S modelu. Verjetno bo šlo le za osvežitev.

 

Na voljo bi naj bila tudi Fortnite verzija konzole, ampak se ne ve ali gre v tem primeru za S model.

Nekateri imajo konzolo le za eno igro, na primer Fifo in igrajo samo to. Zakaj bi potem kupovali dražjo konzolo, če optičnega pogona ne potrebujejo nikoli? Če se jim pa že zalušta kakšna druga igra, pa verjetno ne kupijo nove, ampak v akciji ali pa nabavijo kar game pass.

 

Primarni namen te konzole je čim bolj poceniti Xbox konzolo (+testiranje trga za X2 brez optičnega medija 😛).

Na All digital so očitno dejasko samo odstranili BR pogon in "popravili" ohišje, ostalo drobovje ostaj enako vključno s priključki na mamaplati 😉
