Images have surfaced today of new Halo 3 achievements, they are from PAX and people who could be bothered to explore their dashboards at the Bungie booth. It is still unclear how these achievements will be added to Halo 3 but I would say it has something to do with the Mythic picture we posted a few days ago. One thing is for sure though, soon bungie will have a lot of explaining to do. It seems an additional 30 achievements have been added going by the "79 of 79 Unlocked".

Achievements:

Here’s a look at these achievements which can be earned via the Legendary Maps and Halo 3 Campaign:

* Vidmaster Challenge: Lightswitch (0 points) – Get to the rank of Lieutenant in any playlist in the new EXP progression system.

* Vidmaster Challenge: 7 on 7 (0 points) – Enter into any ranked or social playlist with 7 EXP on the 7th of the month.

* Vidmaster Challenge: Annual (0 points) – After 9/25/08, complete Halo on 4-player Legendary LIVE co-op, with Iron, and everyone in Ghosts.

* Double Double (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get two Double Kills during any ranked or social match.

* Poor Yorick (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get 3 Oddball melee kills during any ranked or social match.

* Came…From…Behind (50 points) – On a Legendary map, get 3 assassinations during any ranked or social match.

* Defend This (50 points) – On a Legendary map, get a flag melee kill during any ranked or social match.

* Flag Dropped (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get 2 flag carrier kills during any ranked or social match.

* Road Rage (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get 5 Warthog chaingun kills during any ranked or social match.

* Look Both Ways (50 points) – On a Legendary map, get a Splatter Spree during any ranked or social match.

The most visible change coming to Halo 3 in TU2 is the in-game addition of Playlist Ratings. We’ve talked about Playlist Ratings before, but here’s a quick recap:

* Playlist Ratings are the playlist-level decoupling of Trueskill values (the in-game number next to your name) from Experience (the icon next to your name).

* You will now have a separate military rating (based purely on EXP) in each playlist. When TU2 goes live, everyone will begin at 0 EXP. This means that being a General in a Playlist is based on how many games you’ve won in the Playlist, not based on the Trueskill number next to your name.

* Your Trueskill values have not been reset. If someone checks your Service Record they will still see your Highest Skill.

Vem, da ga ne bo več, sam mi je itak vseeno. Pride precej novega stuffa, polek tega pa so mi šli precej na živce tisti, ki rock-it raca niso pravilno igrali (mislim na tiste, ki so hodli okoli in pokali ostale). Ful me zanima kak bo nov Free4all v osem, pa tale nov ranking sistem, ki ga pa še ne razumem točno...

Haha, ampak meni se zdi sploh škoda ga ne imeti, če si že kolikor toliko zagret za Halo. Arene so zakon in zato, ker ga imamo med slovenskimi igralci glih eni štirje, smo velikokrat bili prikrajšani pestrosti. Lepo bi bilo sicer od bunegieja, če bi ga počasi dal zastonj. Ampak od prve priložnosti, ko so rekli, da NE BO zastonj, bi morali po moje vsi H3 igralci pobrati škrtoc z glave in enostavno pljuniti tistih 800 pik, pa mirna bosna.

Drugače pa kul. Squad battle (6 vs 6) tudi zveni dobra ideja. :thumbup:

Tipster Nick F points out that the Bungie teaser for the new whatever the studio is working on just hit Xbox Live. With it comes this succinct, but a bit more to the point description:

"High action and deep mystery await players in the new Halo 3 campaign experience. Prepare to Drop!"

So does that mean an expansion pack and not that Mario-esque Halo platformer I've been dreaming about? Only time will tell.

Q: Can you please clarify exactly how the “7 on 7” achievement will be earned?

A: You will get this achievement once you hit 7 EXP in any single playlist on the 7th of the month. For example, you could have 5 EXP in Team Slayer and then on 10/7 go in and win 2 more games, hitting a total of 7 EXP and unlocking the achievement. If you already have 7 EXP or greater in a playlist before the 7th of the month, you won’t be able to earn the achievement in that playlist. We will be releasing a new playlist on the 7th of the month in which everyone will start with zero EXP. In this playlist, you have a clean slate and can just focus on earning 7 EXP before the end of the day. The first chance to earn this will be on 10/7.

Q: I’m confused about the “Annual” achievement. How does that work?

A: To get it, play a Legendary co-op Halo 3 game on LIVE with four people and finish the level “Halo” in Ghosts, with the Iron Skull enabled. You don’t have to beat the entire game in a Ghost, but feel free to try if you want.

EXP and TrueSkill issues in Matchmaking

Users in Matchmaking since Xbox Live's recent downtime are noticing a lack of EXP rewards for their gameplay. Rest assured we're working on it right now.

Since Xbox Live's scheduled maintenance ended this morning, gamers playing Halo 3 have noticed that TrueSkill and EXP are not being rewarded properly (which is to say, EXP is not being rewarded at all). We are currently working with the Xbox Live team to identify and resolve this issue, and we hope to have you earning your EXP again as quickly as possible.

Note that this is not the same as an EXP ban. If you have been banned from gaining EXP for boosting as part of our recently evolved Banhammer, you will receive a message informing you so quite clearly from the game itself. If you have not seen this message (which reappears often), then you are not banned.

There is nothing further to add at this time, but I will update this post as updates are warranted.

UPDATE: 3:46pm PDT

Further investigation suggests that this is a larger problem with the Xbox Live service that is affecting more games than just Halo 3. We will continue to work with the Xbox team to resolve the issues, but ultimately the ball is in their court, and that rings true for more than just Halo fans.

UPDATE: 6:42pm PDT

Sorry, folks. The Live team is working really hard to resolve issues, but there is no ETA for a complete resolution at this time. Further, when these issues are resolved, there is no guarantee that EXP gained in the interim will be retroactively rewarded. Thanks again for your patience.
