Na igri dela ista ekipa pri Square Enix-u, ki je delala na Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Igra ne bo remake kakšnega izmed prejšnjih delov ampak bo popolnoma novo poglavje v seriji, igralnost pa bi naj bila podobna kot pri Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Lika, ki bosta na voljo v igri sta Sora in Riku med katerima bo igra samodejno menjavala. Igra bo tudi kompatibilna z novim Expansion Slide Pad-om.

There are new scans the new ‘Country of Musketeers’ world in Kingdom Hearts 3D. The world is based off of the 2004 Disney adaption of The Three Musketeers and will feature characters: Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Minnie and Pete. It has also been confirmed that Joshua and Beat from The World Ends with You will make an appearance in the game.

Japanese gaming publication Famitsu has managed to score an interview with Tetsuya Nomura regarding Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance for the Nintendo 3DS. Nomura told the publication that the game has an ending that will be completely unconventional for the series. Nomura also told Famitsu that the original ending that had been planned for the game was not officially approved. Kingdom Hearts 3D will also feature a secret ending that will feature shocking developments that connect to the next game in the long-running series.

Square Enix has provided a first look at the Kingdom Hearts 10th Anniversary Box. Inside the box consumers will find a copy of Kingdom Hearts 3D, 358/2 Days, and Re:coded. Square Enix will also be including twelve post cards and a protective cover.
