According to Smach, the hardware specifications will allow the handheld to support more than 1,000 games in Steam at launch. The company claims the handheld will also support Dota2, Half Life 2 and Civilization V.

The console’s keys scheme is similar to the latest version of the official Steam Controller, with two touch pads, a control stick, 7 buttons on the front face and 6 in the rear.

Those interested in the handheld can pre-order via the company’s websiteahead of the device’s Q4 2016 shipment window.

Building the Steam Controller 

When we first started designing hardware at Valve, we decided we wanted to try and do the manufacturing as well. To achieve our goal of a flexible controller, we felt it was important to have a similar amount of flexibility in our manufacturing process, and that meant looking into automated assembly lines. It turns out that most consumer hardware of this kind still has humans involved in stages throughout manufacturing, but we kind of went overboard, and built one of the largest fully automated assembly lines in the US. Our film crew recently put together a video of that assembly line, showcasing exactly why robots are awesome.

Here's that showcase, where you can watch controllers being built entirely by robots. We aren't crazy though, so humans are still on hand to keep the robots from becoming sentient.

Pred par dnevi je HTC (+Valve) napovedal ceno očal: 800$

To je sicer drago, ampak... zadeva vsebuje precej elektronike:

• VR očala
• 2x brezžični motion kontroler
• 2x 360° senzor za sledenje in omejitev gibanja - v očalah se na podlagi teh dveh senzorjev izrisujejo virtualni zidovi, ki preprečijo da bi treščili v steno sobe.

Sama očala imajo vgrajeno sposobnosti mobilnih telefonov - telefoniranje, sprejemanje in branje SMSov, pregledovanje slik,... Prisotna je tudi SteamVR integracija.

Žal Oculus kot tudi HTC VR očala ostajata močno izven cenovnega teritorija marsikaterega VR navdušenca. Edino upanje ostaja Sony s svojimi PS VR očali, upam da ne na račun kvalitete.

Še povezava do SteamVR Performance Test. Gre za tester, ki s pomočjo dvominutnega testa ugotovi ali je PC pripravljen za SteamVR očala (kot so na primer HTC Vive).

Pre-orders went live yesterday and went very well. HTC announced that Vive sold more than 15,000 units in 10 minutes. And given that the full $799/£689/€899 amount is charged when pre-ordering, that means 'a lot of money' changed hands - somewhere north of £10 million, according to my crude maths.
