Sony said today that PS Classics support will be added to Vita via the system's version 1.8 firmware update. As previously announced, this firmware update will be available some time during the Summer.

The version 1.8 firmware update was mentioned during Sony's announcement of the PlayStation 2 Game Archives service for PlayStation 3.

PlayStation Vita Firmware 1.8 pride 28. avgusta, prinaša pa:

Cross Controller

The new Cross-Controller feature will allow you to use PS Vita as a controller to play compatible games on PS3, such as LittleBigPlanet 2. This feature lets you take advantage of PS Vita’s rich features including the touch screen, rear touch pad, six-axis motion sensing system, and cameras.

To access the cross controller feature you need to launch the Remote Play application and then click on the Cross-Controller icon.

Controls

As many of you have requested, you will now have the option to control the home screen and some features of applications such as Videos and Music with the buttons on the PS Vita system.

Music

Playlists will be supported in Music. You will be able to transfer iTunes (10.6.3 or later), M3U, and M3U8 playlists from a PS3 or a PC using Content Manager.

Web Browser

Rear touch pad operation will be supported by the browser, allowing you to scroll through and zoom out of pages without obscuring the screen.

Video

The following controls have been added to Videos:

Photos

Viewing photos in MPO format will now be supported, with the ability to transfer MPO files from PS3™ and PC using Content Manager.

* 3D and multi-angle viewing are NOT supported.

Group Messaging

Along with some new layout enhancements, you will be able to take photos to add as attachments when writing Group Messages.

Maps

The Maps feature has been improved by adding a button on the top screen to switch between “Search for Location” and “Search for Directions.” You can also touch and hold a location on the map and place a user flag.

“near”

“near” will be able to gather the information of surrounding Wi-Fi access points without internet connection and update the location data based on it later. You can get location data within the area covered by Wi-Fi location services.

Izjemno slaba prodaja Vite:

The PlayStation Vita has sold a scant 2.2 million worldwide as 30th June, Sony has announced.

Prior to this, the last confirmed sales figures for the Vita were at 1.8 million as of the end of March.

This means only 400,000 Vitas were sold worldwide during Q2.

At its most recent quarterly earnings report - covering the period from April to June - Sony said that the Vita and PSP together sold 1.4 million, meaning one million of those were PSPs. Thus, the seven year old handheld sold roughly 2.5 times that of its successor. Yikes!

Sony engineers are working to reduce the cost of manufacturing the PS Vita so it can cut the price of the handheld - but that price cut won't happen this year.

Vita dobi novembra PSN+, obstoječi naročniki na PSN+ na PS3 bodo dobili avtomatsko plus tudi na Viti. Plus bo na viti vseboval:

Games: Plus members get to play the full versions of designated content for PS Vita available on PlayStation Store as long as their membership is effective, at no extra cost.

Discounts: Access exclusive discounts on certain PS Vita titles.

Online Game Save: Upload game save data for compatible games to Online Cloud Storage, offering up to 1GB of space.

Automatic content downloads and updates: PS Vita will automatically download designated game demos and game updates, and also download system software updates.

Automatic Trophy sync: PS Vita will automatically start up at a designated time to sync Trophy information across PlayStation Network servers.

The 2.01 firmware for PlayStation Vita went live this morning, correcting an error with syncing of PS Plus game saves. According to Sony, 2.01 fixes issues that prevented players from automatically syncing saves of their PS Plus games with cloud storage.

Sicer rumor, ampak baje Sony dela na novi verziji Vite.

Baje je Sony vložil zahtevo za patent z novimi izhodi in povezavami na Viti.

• A new 4G LTE model of the PlayStation Vita will be replacing the 3G model sometime this year. According to the source, this will be the so-called “price drop” that has been rumored for the Vita as the new model will retain the $299 price point for an upgraded system.
  
• The Wi-Fi version will still be available on the market for $249
  
• To go along with the 4G model, a significant firmware update will go live bringing in a lot of requested features including new ways to organize apps in folders.
  
• The new model may be unveiled along with the rumored PS4 this month at PlayStation’s February 20th event or at E3, but will not hit the market until later in the year.
  
• A price cut on memory cards will be made. No details on prices.

Mim so ruknl ker že v štartu niso dal 4g lte, jih bo drago stal....

Mislim da so kar imeli razlog... enostavno je bila še premala pokritost s tem signalom in takratni čipi so potrebovali preveč elektrike. Takratni 4G mobiteli so bili katastrofa glede avtonomije baterije.

Ko bo price cut in kakšne dodatne dobre igre razen Uncharteda, potem mogoče nabavim.

Saj od 3G/4G itak ni kakega efekta, bombonček, ki ga v glavnem ne uporabljaš...

Mobilni modul je uporaben samo on-the-go, pa še tu si lahko pomagaš z deljenim mobilnim omrežjem na mobitelu. Dobiš lastno wifi omrežje in nato na Viti preko wifi dostopaš do interneta.

Tuki bi se pa midva lohka rahlo "skregala". Bil je to en redek razlog zakaj sem nabavil vito. Play anywhere, in že igra Street fighter x tekken je podpirala 3g in ne tako kot ostale igre ki so podpirale le multiplayer preko Wi-Fi-ja.

Z tehnologijo 4g pa bi hitrost prenosa podatkov narasla in bi posledično res lahko igrali vse MP preko 4g povezave. Zelo dober feat... in ne samo bonbonček.

Predusem za tiste (med njimi spadam tudi jaz), ki nimajo doma postavljenega Wi-Fi-ja...

Ja no glede na to, da imaš skoraj na vsakem koraku Wi-fi... OK, mogoče pride komu prav, ampak brez nisi nekaj na slabšem, pač bombonček

No, vsak ima svoje razloge.

4G se počasi tudi pri nas gradi (SiMobil ima že aktiven postaje, ostali ponudniki pa so tudi že obljubili in testirajo), ampak še nekaj časa ga ne bo, še posebej izven večjih mest.

Druga težava, ki jo jaz vidim je, da je mobilni internet še vedno hudo predrag. Zato raje vse uporabljam preko wifi. Wifi je zame obvezen! Kot velik bonus lahko še štejem, da je dan danes praktično povsod wifi (LJ, MB, lokali,...) in to zastonj.

3G/4G modul je (pre)drag "bombonček"!
